Old Growth Memorial

Original photograph by Eco-Artist John K Melvin.  Photograph is of a site specific sculpture by the artist installed at I-Park Foundation, in East Haddam, Connecticut.  The sculpture was inspired by the artist’s research into the forestry history dating back to pre-colonial times.   The form becomes that of a clock, a vivisection, and a temple.  Its meant to be a homage to the old growth trees that populated Connecticut’s forests prior to the arrival of colonists.   The artist has written about the project more here.  This image was captured by the artist shortly after installing the sculpture after a quick snow shower.

The image is 38.23 x 29 cm  or 15 x 11.4 inches with a 3cm border for mounting.

1st Edition is limited to 25.  Each limited-edition print ships with a signed certificate of edition, and each print has a custom embossed artist signature on the lower right border of the print. These two forms of certification create a truly unique piece of art for any collection.  The artist suggests it be displayed with a 2-inch archival white window mat framing the print just beyond the embossed signature, and all enclosed in a low profile matte black studio frame with UV glass or acrylic glazing.
