The PA-SDW installation was a repsonse to a transparent architectural situation — the gallery window. This environment exposed movement and change through the transparent barrier it presented as a division between the inside and outside worlds. A matrix of transparent elements was constructed and designed to manipulate overlaps of light and shadow. The matrix was intended to present a spatial rendering of a dynamic system represented by the inside and outside worlds and the physical and temporal barrier that separates two physical places (here and there) and two temporal realities (now and then or when). The matrix relied on information from both worlds and contextualized a perceptual field where we can understand elements as separate, related or interdependent. It was intended to pose questions for the viewer about where they are and what separates them in time and distance from one place to another.
